About Us

The Vanguard School is an independent, not-for-profit, private boarding and day school located in Lake Wales, Florida. Fully accredited through the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) and Cognia (formerly SACS), Vanguard specializes in providing personalized education for students with learning differences, including ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and Asperger’s.

Founded in 1966, Vanguard has been a leader in creating a supportive environment where students in grades 6–12 can develop academic skills, build confidence, and thrive. By tailoring instructional paths to each student's unique needs, the school emphasizes individual strengths and fosters a love for learning. Vanguard’s dedicated faculty, small class sizes, and low student-to-teacher ratio ensure that every student receives the attention and support they need to succeed.
