DAVENPORT, Fla. (Monday, May 04, 2026) -- AdventHealth Heart of Florida in Davenport and AdventHealth Lake Wales have received national recognition for their efforts to help more people receive lifesaving and life enhancing organ, eye and tissue transplants through the DoNation Campaign.
Behind this recognition are patients and families whose lives have been changed by the generosity of donors in the community.
According to LifeLink of Florida, organ and tissue donations from the two hospitals over the past year helped save lives and improve the health and quality of life for many others. AdventHealth Heart of Florida had one organ donor who donated two kidneys, along with five tissue donations. AdventHealth Lake Wales had four tissue donors. LifeLink noted that each tissue donor can impact up to 75 lives through healing and restorative tissue grafts.
The DoNation Campaign brings employers and organizations together to encourage conversations about donation and to make it easier for individuals to register as donors. As part of this effort, AdventHealth Heart of Florida and AdventHealth Lake Wales partnered with LifeLink of Florida, the local organ and tissue recovery program, and Donate Life Florida, the state’s organ and tissue donor registry. LifeLink of Florida also praised both hospitals for their continued work to help community members understand how organ and tissue donation can save lives and improve the health of patients and families.
“Every donor represents a deeply personal decision that gives others a chance at more time, better health and renewed hope,” said Tim Clark, AdventHealth Polk market president and CEO. “What makes this recognition meaningful is the impact it reflects. It means patients have received a second chance and allows them to have more precious time with their families and other loved ones. We are grateful to our caregivers and community members who continue to help spread awareness about how powerful one simple decision can be.”
Through activities such as ceremonial honor walks, flag raisings, donor registration events, Donate Life spirit week activities, community outreach, social media engagement and media awareness, hospital teams helped increase donor registrations across the region.
For patients waiting on a transplant, each new registration represents hope. More than 100,000 people nationwide are currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, including more than 5,000 Floridians. Every day, 17 people in the United States die waiting for an organ that never becomes available, and every eight minutes another person is added to the national transplant waiting list, underscoring the urgent and ongoing need for organ, eye and tissue donors.
Anyone, regardless of age or health, can choose to become a registered organ and tissue donor when obtaining a driver's license or by visiting www.DonateLifeFlorida.org.
