Center Accreditation

LAKE WALES, Fla. (Monday, November 10, 2025) -- If you or a loved one experiences chest pain, every second counts. AdventHealth Lake Wales has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for its expertise and commitment to caring for patients with chest pain and heart attack symptoms. This national Chest Pain Center Accreditation means you can trust that the team at AdventHealth Lake Wales is ready to provide fast, accurate, and compassionate care when it matters most.

Heart disease is a leading cause of death in the United States and Florida, with heart disease accounting for approximately 2 out of 10 deaths in Florida, according to state health data. Heart attacks affect more than 730,000 Americans each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The most common warning sign is chest pain or discomfort, but symptoms can vary, especially for women. Other signs may include pain in the arms, back, neck, or jaw, shortness of breath, cold sweats, nausea, dizziness or unusual fatigue. If you notice these symptoms, call 911 immediately.
Hospitals that earn ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation have proven they can deliver the highest level of care for patients with heart attack symptoms. At AdventHealth Lake Wales, this includes rapid evaluation and diagnosis to start treatment quickly, coordinated care from admission through recovery and support for lifestyle changes to help prevent future heart problems...
“Our goal is simple, to provide the people of Lake Wales and surrounding communities with exceptional heart care close to home,” AdventHealth Lake Wales Associate Chief Medical Officer Dr. Angela Alfaro said. “This recognition reflects our commitment to treating every patient with urgency, expertise and compassion, and it shows our team is prepared with the right protocols and technology to quickly diagnose and treat heart attacks, giving patients the best chance for recovery."

Hospitals accredited as Chest Pain Centers by the American College of Cardiology meet rigorous standards for heart attack care. They streamline processes, follow proven guidelines, and work as a dedicated team to deliver faster treatment, better education, and improved outcomes for patients.

“AdventHealth Lake Wales has demonstrated its commitment to providing Lake Wales and the surrounding area with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award AdventHealth Lake Wales with Chest Pain Center Accreditation.”
