AdventHealth recognizes local heroes in Polk County during EMS Week
DAVENPORT, Fla. (Friday, May 23, 2025) -- As part of National EMS week this week, AdventHealth team members from AdventHealth Heart of Florida and Lake Wales hospitals visited EMS/Fire stations in Polk County to deliver gifts and express gratitude to these extraordinary people for the critical work they do to keep our communities safe and healthy. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Emergency Medical Technicians respond to more than 200 million calls each year. National EMS Week brings communities across the country together to honor those who provide lifesaving services and always answer the call. It runs from May 18 to 24 this year. According to NHTSA’s office of EMS this year’s theme is “We Care. For Everyone.” The office says this theme is a reminder that EMTs, paramedics and all EMS professions provide skilled, compassionate care in big cities and small towns, in private homes, businesses and schools, and our roadways and streets. AdventHealth leaders provided gift cards and hot meals to EMS and Fire Stations in Polk County throughout the week. They also provided meals to EMS workers who came to the hospital after responding to calls in the community. It was all in an effort to honor the groups for their partnership in helping care for people in need. “Our EMS professionals are more than first responders; they are the critical link between the community and the hospital. Their swift, skilled and compassionate care saves lives every day and ensures that patients arrive at our doors with the best possible chance for recovery,” AdventHealth Polk Market President Tim Clark said. “We are deeply grateful for the dedication, courage and resilience of our EMS teams. They are not only essential to our hospital, but to the health and safety of the entire community we are blessed to serve. Their partnership is vital to the mission we live every day: to extend the healing ministry of Christ.”
