FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nearly Full: Sandy’s MusicGirls Camps Celebrate a Legacy of Music, Mentorship, and Community Support
Lake Wales, FL – The Lake Wales Arts Council is excited to announce that Sandy’s MusicGirls Camps for Summer 2025 are almost full, reflecting overwhelming enthusiasm for this inspiring program that empowers young women through music education.
Taking place from June 4–13, 2025, Sandy’s MusicGirls returns with two camp experiences tailored for girls ages 6–19. Led by accomplished female musicians and educators, the camps provide hands-on instruction in voice, instrumental music, performance techniques, and collaboration—designed to build confidence, creativity, and lifelong connections.
Thanks to generous support from the Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Council, campers will also receive daily lunches served by the All Veterans Center, adding a powerful element of community service to the camp experience. The veterans’ involvement underscores a shared commitment to mentoring the next generation of musicians while honoring the legacy of Sandy Greer Morrison, a beloved musician and community member who passed away in 2014.
“It’s incredible to see the impact this program continues to have,” said Steve Morrison, Sandy’s husband and founder of Sandy’s MusicGirls. “Every summer, these girls show up eager to grow—and they leave with music in their hearts and strength in their voices. Sandy would be so proud.”

“Although I never had the chance to know Sandy personally, her legacy has shaped who I am today,” said Phebe Russell, Program Coordinator. “MusicGirls gave me lifelong friendships and a safe space to grow as a musician. Now, as coordinator, I’m honored to help build that same experience for every new MusicGirl.”
The program is fueled by community donations, scholarship support, and the passion of volunteers, many of whom knew Sandy personally and now continue her mission through mentorship and music. Some campers are even second-generation participants, carrying forward the inspiration they once received.
Spaces are limited and registration is filling quickly. Families are encouraged to register now to secure their spot in this unforgettable summer experience.
