Webber International University Celebrates a Year of Success

Webber International University Celebrates a Year of Success!

Babson Park, FL. (November 25, 2024)
– On November 20, Webber International University proudly marked “A Year of Success,” celebrating a year of milestones under the leadership of President and CEO Dr. Nelson Marquez. This event highlighted significant achievements in community engagement, expanded educational offerings such as new certificate programs, and the growth of dual enrollment opportunities.

The celebration was generously sponsored by Mrs. Violeta Salud, a long-term supporter, former Board of Trustee member, and owner of Salud and Associates in Lake Wales. Her sponsorship underscores her commitment to the Webber community.

The event featured a Catholic Mass, followed by a celebratory luncheon, honoring both the University’s accomplishments and the leadership of Dr. Marquez.

Dr. Marquez in his celebration address to the attendees stated “My unexpected journey towards who I am today taught me several lessons. I learned that at times, our purpose drops into our laps as if the heavens threw it by accident.”

He went on to say “I’ve learned not to fear failure, but to be terrified of regret as giving up is the birth of regret. I learned that I will have hundreds of moments that will be filled with someone telling me “no.” The reality of life is that we will all hear more “nos” than we hear “yeses.” And we will fail a lot…I mean a whole lot. But what I also learned is to not take no for an answer and not to be afraid of “nos.” I’ve learned to be afraid of the possibility of a yes that I could have prematurely destroyed, because I’ve decided to quit before the clock strikes 12!”

Dr. Marquez was officially appointed President and CEO by the Board of Trustees during their semi-annual meeting on December 1, 2023. The Board unanimously approved his appointment, recognizing his dedication to service and forward-thinking leadership.

At the time of his appointment, Dr. Marquez stated: “I believe that the Office of the President exists to serve you, not to be served by you. And I intend to do just that...to be of service to the University's constituents."

The University’s community continues to thrive under Dr. Marquez's leadership, as Webber looks ahead to further growth and success.
