Webber International University Kicks Off Centennial Celebration During Alumni Weekend

Babson Park, FL (October 7, 2025)- Webber International University officially launched its centennial celebration during its annual Alumni Weekend held on October 4, 2025. The festivities marked the beginning of a multi-year celebration leading up to the university’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

Founded by the Babson family on April 6, 1927, Webber International University has long been a cornerstone of higher education in Polk County, Florida. As the region’s oldest post-secondary institution, Webber has played a vital role in shaping generations of leaders and professionals.

In April 2023, the university formed the Webber Centennial Committee, a diverse and cross-functional group of alumni, faculty, staff, and community members. Their mission: to plan and execute a series of meaningful events that honor Webber’s rich history and propel the institution into its next century.

The theme of the centennial celebration, “Guiding Generations. Shaping Futures.”, was unveiled during the Alumni BBQ by President Dr. Nelson Marquez, alongside the official centennial logo. The logo, prominently displayed throughout the day, will serve as a visual symbol of the university’s legacy and future.

“The reveal of the logo at this time is important to build excitement leading into 2027,” said Mr. Ryan Reis, Executive Director for Advancement and External Relations. “It doesn’t just highlight the significance of reaching 100 years, but the importance of securing Webber’s foundation for the next 100 years.”

The Alumni BBQ, generously supported by longtime donors Mark and Marguerite Costanzo through the Jessica Costanzo Scholarship Fund, was followed by the spirited Lake Caloosa Clash, where the Warriors triumphed over rival Warner University.

During the celebration, Dr. Marquez announced the launch of the 1927 Founders Circle Campaign, stating, “This two-year fundraising initiative honors Webber International University’s legacy while securing vital funding for scholarships, campus improvements, and future student success.”

Dr. Marquez went on to state “The campaign is based on four pillars, which reflects my vision set forth a year and a half ago when I became president.”

The four pillars are:
Academic Endowment
Athletic Academic Fund
Capital Infrastructure
Endowed Faculty Chair

Supporters can pledge over the next two years or make a one-time gift to become Lifetime Members of the 1927 Founders Circle. Contributions will be made through the College Alumni Association, Inc., which is in the process of being rebranded as the Webber International Foundation for Advancement, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

The day concluded with a lively Casino Night Fundraiser hosted by the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, capping off a weekend of celebration, community, and Warrior pride.
